J.C. de Cock: Apollo and Daphne

Apollo and Daphne by J.C. de Cock (1707)The marble chimney breast is decorated with a bas-relief depicting Apollo and Daphne, by the Flemish artist Jan Claudius de Cock (1667-1735). It shows Daphne fleeing from Apollo and being transformed into a laurel tree.
