Meeting and reception room

Maria Elisabeth Musch by Jan MytensThe marble chimney breast and the mirror mounted in a gilded wooden frame date from the eighteenth century. The paper embosser beside the mantelpiece belonged to Queen Wilhelmina and bears the legend Wilhelmina Koningin der Nederlanden. Above it are portraits of Maria Elisabeth Musch and her husband Matthijs Pompe, executed by the popular Hague portraitist Jan Mytens (c. 1614-1670). Maria Elisabeth was the stepdaughter of Diederik Pauw, whose father Reynier Pauw had the house built in 1635.

On the right is a desk made by the Hague manufacturer Pander for Anton Mussert, in the period that the building served as his office (1943-1945).
